About CTE
What is CTE?:
PATHS is greater Portland’s career and technical education (CTE) high school. Maine’s CTE schools are centers for hands-on, technical education and career-focused programs. Today's CTE programs (previously known as vocational) prepare students for a wide range of high-skill, high-wage, high-demand careers. CTE includes applied learning that provides opportunities to gain technical skills competency, an industry-recognized third party credential as well as advanced college credits.

Why CTE?:
Data shows that:
High school students involved in CTE are more engaged, perform better and graduate at higher rates.
Postsecondary CTE fosters postsecondary completion and prepares students and adults for in-demand careers.
Investing in CTE yields big returns for state economies.
CTE addresses the needs of high-growth industries and helps close the skills gap.
