Manny is only a sophomore but has been working on mechanical things with his uncles since he was 9 years old. He has been repairing small engines for years now and it shows with his advanced skill set in the shop this quarter. Manny is the type of student who is always willing to help others. He was the top scoring student on an electricity pre test this year. Last years top student won a $5000 scholarship to a college of his choice so we have high expectations for him in the future.

Noah has hit the ground running this year. Noah has perfect attendance so far this year, and has been showing growth from last year to this year. Noah has been staying busy in the shop completing all of the tasks that have been given to him so far. Keep up the good work Noah!

Nolan is a first year student who is off to a running start. He has already finished his first quarter projects, started drafting and designing a toolbox he is going to build, and has been helping the second year students on the house construction. Nolan shows up about 30 minutes early every day eager to start work. He has the work ethic that every employer begs for.

Ty works at JP’s Bistro, a restaurant on Woodford Ave. He brings a quiet confidence to the classroom and is eager to further build his skills. He has already helped with a job we did outside of school.

This is Rosa’s third year in the dance program at PATHS. Rosa excels in all aspects of dance; she has achieved a high level of technical ability and has grown into a strong and expressive performer. Along with her excellent technical abilities, Rosa is a natural leader, collaborator, and friend to all her peers.

Estella is a third year student who comes to school with a positive attitude every day and is always willing to help in any way. The children love her playful spirit. Estella completed an internship last year at Youth and Family Outreach, a childcare program in Portland. They liked her so much that they hired her! She worked there all summer and now works after school, helping out in different classrooms.

Austin Gisel
Homeschooled
Austin’s father operates a small machine shop in Lewiston, and Austin is learning Manufacturing skills both at PATHS and in his father’s shop. Austin is in his second year in Manufacturing Technology at PATHS, and will Dual Enroll at SMCC in Precision Manufacturing this school year, earning four college credits through PATHS. Austin is currently learning CAD (computer aided design) and CNC (computer numerical control) programming, and safe operation of CNC machinery. Austin is always engaged and learning in the classroom and shop, is always willing to lend a helping hand.

Marine
Nicholas Leong
Portland High School
Nick has been a great example to his fellow students acting as mentor and in supervisory roles. His attendance and attitude for school and the trades has been outstanding. Nick has been a student with Sail Maine and is currently a licensed student lobsterman who at this time has his lobster boat in the shop. He has torn down the inboard motor for a top end rebuild and also plans to complete composite repairs.

Tumaini is in her second year and is very driven to become a mason. She is looking at attending the Maine School of Masonry after she graduates. She is a very hard worker in the lab and is an inspiration to her peers.

Hunter is a second year student and has shown leadership qualities and a level of responsibility far ahead of where he was last year at this time. He is constantly monitoring what equipment needs to be set-up for demonstrations, for project work and then leads the tearing down of the equipment and putting it back where it belongs.

Brandon is a complete student who is serious and dedicated to learning all he can at PATHS and transferring his knowledge to a productive career. He is definitely a leader in class and shop. He will spend extra time on his projects to make sure they are superior. We expect he will be an excellent technician!

Hunter is a first year student who has shown great interest in welding and good skills during the first quarter. He is excelling in his performance tests.

Casco Bay High School
Garrison and two of his classmates wrote and awarded a grant through Painting for a Purpose to make canoe paddles to auction off. He is also helping cut wood for furniture pieces for a LL Bean event.
