Statement

Ensuring the safety of all students is our highest priority. The standard school accident insurance policy covers school activities only. Therefore, it is recommended that students have additional insurance in the event that an accident occurs. More information is available through your student’s high school or Superintendent’s office.

Many of our programs involve the use of potentially dangerous equipment. Therefore, mature attitudes and proper procedures for operation will be taught to all participating in these programs. Students are expected to follow safety procedures and protocols, and will be separated from PATHS if they do not comply. 

School Nurse

The building has a nurse that serves both Casco Bay High School and PATHS students. If a student needs to see the nurse, they must first inform their instructor. All students should have a completed health information form on file in order to receive medical treatment.

Greater Portland Health Center

In partnership with Portland Public Schools and Maine Medical Center, Greater Portland Health offers School-Based Health Center services at PATHS. The School-Based health center provides an entry point and source of primary care for children and is staffed with medical providers (i.e. doctors, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants). Enrolled students can establish Greater Portland Health as their primary medical home, thus giving them coordinated and accessible care year-round. If a primary care provider has been established elsewhere, providers in the School Based Health Center will coordinate care with the student’s primary care provider. The location of the center directly in the schools allows for convenient, accessible and easy scheduling. The services offered include: sports physicals, diagnosis and treatment of minor illness, management of chronic conditions, immunizations, mental health counseling and reproductive health care.
